Mari Alkatiri Admit Positive COVID-19

DILI, news-viptv.com – The former Prime Minister of Timor-Leste, Mari Alkatiri admitted that he and his wife and daughter tested positive for COVID-19.

Mari Alkatiri’s statement was delivered directly through his Facebook page in Tetum (the national language of Timor-Leste) on August 24, 2021.

He explained that a few days ago everyone knew that COVID-19 had spread to his residence, and that his three grandchildren had been infected.

“At that time I said that I was fine. Now I want to tell the people that I too have been infected. My wife and daughter are also infected,” said Mari Alkatiri.

He added, “I am not ashamed to say this fact. I believe everything will work out according to medical science. Our courage comes from the belief that each no is strengthened by the capacity of knowledge.”

With the infection of Mari Alkatiri and his family, he also asked the people of Timor-Leste to remain careful with the spread of COVID-19, especially the Delta variant.

Mari Alkatiri herself has received 2 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine in support of the government’s national health program.
