DILI, www.news-viptv.com – The Chinese Government continues to confirm its commitment to support development in Timor-Leste (TL) through a cooperation agreement established by both States.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Sun Weidong, made this commitment to the Prime Minister, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, at the Government Palace, Tuesday (17 / 12 / 2024).
“The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of China discussed cooperation with Timor-Leste. We are very grateful to one more member of the Government. We did not discuss the issue, but only tell each other. They are coming to continue to express their willingness to help Timor-Leste in development,”said PM Xanana in a press release published via one of the prime minister’s office social media accounts.
Weidong said that, China and Timor-Leste are good friends as well as partners for cooperation since the beginning of TL’s total restoration of independence as a sovereign State.
It also offers strategic guidance to two countries, strengthening the relationship focused on key areas such as industry, infrastructure and agriculture.
During this visit, Sun Weidong wanted to further implement the consensus of leaders to promote cooperation in practice.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by the Vice Prime Minister and the Coordinator of Economic Affairs and the Minister of Tourism and Environment, Francisco Kalbuadi Lay, the Vice Minister of ASEAN Affairs, Milena Rangel. Meanwhile, Vice Minister Sun Weidong was accompanied by the Chinese Ambassador in TL, Wang Wenli.
Sun Weidong will also meet with other members of the Government to discuss concrete issues of cooperation.
Timor-Leste, through its two leaders, President Jose Ramos-Horta and PM Xanana, has paid an official visit to China and met President Xin Jinping to discuss bilateral cooperation between the two countries in all sectors.
