PHNOM PENH, www.news-viptv.com – President of Republic, José Ramos-Horta received the doctor of honorarium degree from three universities in Cambodia as the recognition for his capacity and the contribution for the community and the world in the areas of conflict management, leadership and others.
The three universities are Beltie International University, Cambodian University and Paragon International University.
“They awarded the doctor of honorarium degree to me as a recognition of my contribution in various areas in international relations, leadership, conflict management and others. This doctor of honorarium degree is a diploma for recognizing someone who is not a student of a university, but his or her contribution to the community or countries in the world qualifies him or her to receive the “dotor honoris causa,” the Head of State said, after receiving the doctor of honorarium degrees, Thursday (20/10/2022).
According to President of Republic, such a degree also contributed to the strengthening of the relations among the universities and individuals in high institutions in Cambodia.
“Almost all universities in the world do this, particularly strengthening relations among universities and individuals to whom these academic degrees are awarded, and in Latin it is called “Doutor Honoris Causa”, and the easy translation of this will be honorarium doctor,” President of Republic argued.
At the ceremony where it was participated by more than one thousand university students, President of Republic spoke about the experience of Timor-Leste, Indonesia and Cambodia in the context of reconciliation.
The Cambodian Minister of Education, Youth and Sport, Hangchuon Naron, other members of the Government and the delegation of Timor-Leste participated in the ceremony of the awarding of the Doctor of Honorarium Degree to President of Republic, José Ramos-Horta.
