PHNOM PENH, www.news-viptv.com – Singapore as one of the founding countries of the Association of South East Asia Nations (ASEAN) has expressed its commitment to assisting the development of Human Resources in Timor-Leste.
Singapore’s commitment was directly emphasized by Singapore’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vivian Balakrishnan in his meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and TL Cooperation, Adaljiza Magno on the sidelines of the 29th ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) which took place in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Wednesday (3/8). /2022).
“Minister Balakrishnan also reiteirated Singapore’s support to the Timor-Leste’s acccession into ASEAN. Singapore remains committed to support in the development of capacity to strengthen Timor-Leste’s human resources.,” said Balakrishnan in a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Timor-Leste.
During the bilateral meeting, Minister Magno also informed about the recent ASEAN Fact-Finding Mission to Timor-Leste.
In addition, Minister Magno also conveyed the intention of the President of the Republic of Timor-Leste to visit Singapore in the second week of September this year.
Also attending the meeting were the Ambassador of Timor-Leste to the Kingdom of Cambodia, Hermenegildo Kupa Lopes, Director General for ASEAN-MNEK, Milena Rangel, National Director of the ASEAN Political-Security Pillar, Elisa da Silva, National Director of ASEAN Economic Pillar Aleixo Gusmão and Advisor to the Minister, Carlos de Araujo.
