President Ramos-Horta Receives Letters of Credence from 11 Ambassadors of Friendly Countries

DILI, www.news-viptv.com – The President of Timor-Leste, Jose Ramos-Horta, received letters of credence from 11 Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary ambassadors from non-resident friendly countries, Monday (19/2/2024), at the Palacio Presidencial Nicolau Lobato, Dili.

The process of handing over the credentials began with a welcome according to Timor-Leste culture, then continued with military honors, as well as a declaration by each ambassador when officially handing over the credentials to President Ramos-Horta as a sign of the official start of each ambassador’s official duties as the country’s official representative. which he represents in bilateral relations and cooperation with Timor-Leste.

“As an independent sovereign state, strengthening friendships and cooperation globally and regionally is imperative for Timor-Leste.  The establishment of these new diplomatic channel pave the way for enhanced political, economic, social and cultural collaboration for mutual benefit of all countries involved. wrote a press release issued by the Timor-Leste Presidential Office.

The following are non-resident Ambassadors from 11 countries who submitted their credentials;

  1. Yasser Hassan Farag Elshemy, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary The Arab Republic of Egypt residing in Jakarta – Indonesia.
  2. Jess Dutton, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada residing in Jakarta – Indonesia.
  3. Sten Frimodt Nielsen, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Denmark, residing in Jakarta – Indonesia.
  4. Georgios Dogoritis, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Hellenic Republic (Greece) residing in Singapore.
  5. Mohammad Boroujerdi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary The Islamic Republic of Iran residing in Jakarta – Indonesia.
  6. Ameer Khurram Rathore, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary The Islamic Republic of Pakistan residing in Jakarta – Indonesia.
  7. Tean Samnang, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Cambodia residing in Jakarta – Indonesia.
  8. Khamfeuang Phanthaxay, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary The Lao People’s Democratic Republic residing in Jakarta – Indonesia.
  9. Nor Eddine Benfreha, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria residing in Canberra – Australia.
  10. Mpetjane Kgaogelo Lekgoro, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Republic of South Africa residing in Jakarta – Indonesia.
  11. Daniel Blockert, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sweden residing in Jakarta – Indonesia.

The ceremony highlights the growth of Timor-Leste’s international profile and the further development of diplomatic relations with countries around the world since the restoration of independence in 2002.
